Agricultural Law

In addition to the legal problems which those involved in agriculture have in common with the general public such as property, purchases, family matters and inheritance law, there are specialised areas of law particularly relating to agriculture such as agricultural tenancies and milk quotas for which more specialist advice may be required.

Business Law

The demands of business in terms of company and commercial law require Solicitors with specialist knowledge. There are Solicitors within the Macclesfield & District Law Society who regularly advise one-man businesses, medium companies and indeed plc's. A high level of expertise can be found locally often at a lower charge out rate than in found in city centres.

Civil Litigation

Whether it be commercial contract disputes or boundary disputes between neighbours there is the legal expertise within Macclesfield surroundings to deal with these issues.

Clinical Negligence Law

This is a highly specialised area of law where the professionals involved understand that the client who may have suffered a medical accident may well be very wary of seeking further professional advice. Solicitors who understand the careful handling of these cases are available in the area. Legal Aid may be available through a firm that has a negligence contract with the Legal Services Commission.

Commercial Property

There is considerable expertise within the Macclesfield area for undertaking commercial property transactions which are carried out with the speed and efficiency often at a lower fee than would be payable in city centre practices.

Criminal Law

There are a number of firms within the area who specialise in all types of criminal law. Legal Aid may be available for firms that are part of the public defender scheme.

Employment Law

Whether for Claimants who take the view that their employers are in breach of contract or consider that they may have been unfairly dismissed or unfairly selected for redundancy, or whether for the employers who consider they are facing an unfair allegation of discrimination, expertise is available locally.

Family Law

For divorce, finances upon the breakdown of marriage and children issues that require specialist advice that is on hand throughout the area, there are firms that hold contracts with the Legal Services Commission for the provision of Legal Aid. There are also firms with members of the Family Law Association and members of the Law Society's Family and Children Panel.

Personal Injury Law

There are a number of firms within the area who undertake personal injury claims, be it road traffic accidents, accidents at work or whilst playing sport or shopping. Most Solicitors within the area will offer a free diagnostic interview and No Win No Fee Agreements or legal expense insurance may be available.

Residential Conveyancing/Property Law

The area is well served with experienced conveyancers who understand the importance of what is likely to be a client's largest lifetime purchase. Quotes for fixed fees can often be obtained prior to the commencement of the transaction.

Wills, Trusts and Probate Law

The district is well served with a number of Solicitors with expertise in this area. The cost of a professional drafted Will is not prohibitive and can often be agreed in advance. Solicitors will tell you that they get more money out of those who died intestate i.e. without a Will, than those who have given thought to how they wish their estate to be administered. If you die without a Will your property may not go to those whom you would like it to. For those with larger estates careful consideration also needs to be given to advice with regards to reducing Inheritance Tax liability. In addition to the preparation of Will and the setting up of Trusts, there are a number of Solicitors in the area who undertake the administration of estates.
